Dharamsala declared as second capital of Himachal Pradesh
Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on 19 January 2017 declared Dharamsala town of Kangra district as the second Capital of the State.
● Dharamsala is located at some 250 km from the state capital Shimla. It has its own significance and history to make it the second capital of the state.
● This announcement is significant as 25 out of 68 assembly seats of the state fall in Kangra, Una and Hamirpur districts and Dharamsala was important for lower areas of Himachal Pradesh including Kangra, Chamba, Hamirpur and Una districts.
● The people of these areas will now be benefitted of this special status as now they will no longer travel longer distance to Shimla for their work.
● Dharamsala is a city in Kangra district of Himachal Pradesh and was formerly known as Bhagsu. Kangra is the largest district in the state with 15 of 68 assembly seats.
हिमाचल प्रदेश के मुख्यमंत्री वीरभद्र सिंह ने 19 जनवरी 2017 को धर्मशाला को राज्य की दूसरी राजधानी घोषित किया. धर्मशाला हिमाचल प्रदेश राज्य की दूसरी राजधानी होगी.
● मुख्यमंत्री वीरभद्र सिंह के अनुसार धर्मशाला शहर का अपना इतिहास और महत्व महत्व है. यह शहर राज्य की दूसरी राजधानी बनने का हकदार भी है.
● धर्मशाला को राज्य की दूसरी राजधानी बनाने से राज्य के निचले इलाकों जैसे कांगड़ा, चंबा, हमीरपुर और ऊना जिले का समुचित विकास हो सकेगा. मुख्यमंत्री वीरभद्र सिंह सर्दियों में प्रवास पर धर्मशाला में थे.
● इस क्षेत्र के लोगों को विशेष दर्जे का लाभ मिलेगा और उन्हें सरकारी काम के लिए शिमला नहीं जाना पड़ेगा.
● धर्मशाला धौलाधार पर्वत श्रंखला पर स्थित है.
● 1960 में तिब्बती धर्मगुरु दलाई लामा ने इस शहर को अपना मुख्यालय बनाया था, तभी से वह यहां से तिब्बत की निर्वासित सरकार चला रहे हैं.
● धर्मशाला को धार्मिक और अडवेंचर टूरिज्म के महत्व के कारण केवल भारत ही नहीं अपितु दुनिया के नक्शे पर भी अहम स्थान प्राप्त है.
● धर्मशाला में तिब्बती धर्मगुरु दलाई लामा के कारण प्रतिष्ठित लोग अक्सर यहां आते जाते रहते है.
