Indian women win fourth straight SAFF Championship title


India on 4 January 2017 defeated Bangladesh 3-1 to win the 2016 SAFF Women's Championship at the Kanchenjunga Stadium in Siliguri, West Bengal.
●    With this, India fetched the 4th consecutive SAFF Women's Championship title.
●    The SAFF Women's Championship is also referred to as the South Asian Football Federation Women's Cup.
●    It is governed by the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF).
●    The SAFF members are India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
●    The Championship is held once in every two years.
●    Until now, India has won every edition of the Championship. 
●    The South Asian Football Federation is an association of the football playing nations in South Asia.
●    It was founded in 1997.
●    Its founding members are Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
