Kunwar Bai chosen Swachh Bharat Abhiyan mascot
105-year-old Kunwar Bai, who was felicitated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi for building toilet by selling off her goats, has been chosen as the ‘Swachh Bharat Abhiyan’ mascot.
• Prime Minister Modi will felicitate Kunwar Bai at a function in the national capital to mark `Swachhta Diwas’ on September 17.
• Prime Minister Narendra Modi had in February touched her feet during a rally in Rajnandgaon.
• The Prime Minister, who was in Chhattisgarh to launch the ambitious Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Rurban (rural-urban) Mission, felicitated Kunwar Bai from Kotabharri village of Dhamtari and then touched her feet to seek blessing.
• Kunwar Bai had sold-off her 8-10 goats to build two toilets at her home. Subsequently, she started showing other villagers the toilets at her home while informing them about its importance.
अपनी बकरियां बेचकर शौचालय बनवाने वाली 105 साल की महिला कुंवर बाई को स्वच्छ भारत अभियान के शुभंकर के लिए चयनित किया गया है। प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी ने उन्हें स्वच्छता दिवस के मौके पर 17 सितम्बर को दिल्ली में सम्मानित किया ।
• फरवरी में एक रैली के दौरान प्रधानमंत्री ने उनके पाँव छुए थे .
• वह धमतरी के कोटाभरी गांव की रहने वाली हैं। उन्होंने अपने गांव को खुले में शौच से मुक्त बनाने की कोशिश की है।
• कुंवर बाई ने अपने घर में शौचालय बनाने के लिए 8-10 बकरियां बेंची थीं।
• इसके बाद उन्होंने अपने घर में बनाए गए शौचालयों को कुछ अन्य ग्रामीणों को दिखाना शुरू किया। साथ ही उन्हें इसके महत्व के बारे में जानकारी दी। अब उनके गांव में घर-घर में शौचालय है।
