NAM Summit 2016 at Veneuela ends
Vice President Hamid Ansari today held talks with Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on a host of issues of mutual interest after arriving here to attend the 17th NAM Summit.
• Ansari called on Maduro in his first official engagement in Venezuela after arriving here as the leader of the Indian delegation at the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM).
• In his call on with Maduro, Ansari was accompanied by Minister of State for External Affairs M J Akbar and Secretary West Sujata Mehta.
• The meeting between Ansari and Maduro came less than a month after Venezuelan Foreign Minister Delcy Rodriguez visited India to personally hand over an invitation for India’s participation in the 17th NAM Summit.
• The two countries had also agreed to finalise a number of key pacts including double tax avoidance agreement.
• The two sides had agreed to move ahead for an early finalization of a number of agreements in different areas, including Extradition Treaty, Double Tax Avoidance Agreement (DTAA), Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) on Criminal Matters and Air Services Agreement.
उपराष्ट्रपति हामिद अंसारी 17वें गुटनिरपेक्ष शिखर सम्मेलन में शामिल होने के लिए शनिवार को वेनेजुएला पहुंचे। भारत की ओर से आतंकवाद के अलावा संयुक्त राष्ट्र में सुधार, जलवायु परिवर्तन और परमाणु निरस्त्रीकरण जैसे अहम मुद्दे उठाए जाने की संभावना है। वेनेजुएला के कार्यकारी उपराष्ट्रपति एरिस्तोबुली इस्तुरिज ने यहां सेंटियागो मैरिनो कैरेबियन अंतरराष्ट्रीय हवाईअड्डे पर अंसारी का स्वागत किया गया।
• उपराष्ट्रपति अंसारी प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी की गैरमौजूदगी में भारतीय प्रतिनिधिमंडल का नेतृत्व कर रहे हैं। मोदी दूसरे ऐसे भारतीय प्रधानमंत्री हैं जो इस सम्मेलन में शामिल नहीं होंगे।
• मादुरो के साथ अपने बातचीत में अंसारी ने राज्य के विदेश मंत्री एम जे अकबर और सचिव पश्चिम सुजाता मेहता के साथ गये।
• अंसारी और मादुरो के बीच बैठक वेनेजुएला के विदेश मंत्री देलसी रोड्रिगेज के साथ हुई बैठक के एक महीने से भी कम समय में हुई है जिसमे उन्होंने व्यक्तिगत रूप से गुटनिरपेक्ष शिखर सम्मेलन में भारत को निमंत्रण दिया।
• अंसारी शुक्रवार शाम से शुरू अपनी तीन दिवसीय यात्रा में विश्व के नेताओं से शिखर सम्मेलन के इतर द्विपक्षीय बैठक करेंगे।
संयुक्त राष्ट्र शांति रक्षक अभियानों, जलवायु परिवर्तन, स्थायी विकास, आर्थिक सुशासन, दक्षिण-दक्षिण सहयोग, शरणार्थियों, विस्थापितों एवं परमाणु निशस्त्रीकरण जैसे विषयों पर भी चर्चा होगी।
