Putin, Modi to Inaugurate work on Kudankulam Nuclear Reactors
The Kudankulam nuclear plant in Tamil Nadu may soon be one of the biggest in the world after the foundations for Unit 3 and 4 are laid on Saturday and MoUs for Unit 5 and 6 are signed.
● Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Russian President Vladimir Putin inaugurated Unit 3 and 4 via video-conferencing from Goa, where Putin has arrived for the Brics Summit.
● Once the plant reaches full capacity it will share the fifth position in terms of power generation with Zaporizhzhia Nuclear Power Plant, Ukraine.
● The Ukraine plant already generates a net capacity of 5,700MW and a gross capacity of 6,000MW.
● Once completely set up, the Kudankulam plant will generate 6,000 MW of power as well.
● The Tamil Nadu plant will be the biggest in South Asia once it reaches full capacity.
● Currently, the Tamil Nadu plant has a capacity of 2,000 MW and stands at the 10th position in terms of power generation.
तमिलनाडु में कुडनाकुलम न्यूक्लियर पावर प्लांट (एनपीपी) की दूसरी इकाई का शनिवार को प्रधानमंत्री नरेंद्र मोदी तथा रूस के राष्ट्रपति व्लादिमीर पुतिन ने यहां से वीडियो क्रांफ्रेंसिग के माध्यम से औपचारिक तौर पर शुरू कर दिया।
● दोनों नेता संयंत्र की तीसरी इकाई तथा चौथी इकाई की आधारशिला रखने के साक्षी बने, जिसका निर्माण दोनों देशों द्वारा संयुक्त तौर पर तमिलनाडु के तिरुवे नेलवेली में किया जाना है।
● पुतिन के साथ एक साझा संवाददाता सम्मेलन में मोदी ने कहा कि रूस के सहयोग से आठ और रिएक्टरों की स्थापना की जाएगी।
● प्रस्तावित आठ अन्य रिएक्टरों के निर्माण के साथ परमाणु ऊर्जा क्षेत्र में व्यापक सहयोग से दोनों देशों को फायदा मिलेगा। यह हमारी ऊर्जा सुरक्षा, उच्च प्रौद्योगिकी तक पहुंच तथा ज्यादा से ज्यादा भारत में निर्माण की जरूरतों के लिए भी अनुकूल है।
● पुतिन ने कहा कि संयंत्र का निर्माण नवीनतम प्रौद्योगिकी के इस्तेमाल से किया गया है।
● एएसई ग्रुप ऑफ कंपनीज के अध्यक्ष वेलेरी लिमारेंको ने इस प्रयास को दुनिया के बाजार में रूसी प्रौद्योगिकी की सफल प्रोन्नति करार दिया।
● कुल 1,000 मेगावाट की दूसरी इकाई को 29 अगस्त को ग्रिड से जोड़ा गया था।
