The President of India, Shri Pranab Mukherjee has extended his greetings and felicitations to the Government and people of the Republic of Indonesia on the eve of 71st anniversary of their Independence Day (August 17, 2016). 
•    In a message to His Excellency Mr. Joko Widodo, the President of the Republic of Indonesia, the President has said, “On behalf of the Government, the people of India and on my own behalf, it is with great pleasure that I extend warm greetings and congratulations to the Government and the people of Indonesia on the occasion of the 71st anniversary of your Independence Day. 
•    Our two countries believe in “Bhinneka Tunggal Ika” (Unity in Diversity) and share warm and friendly relations which are rooted in our historical and cultural linkages. As the world’s two largest democracies and developing economies with young populations, we are making sincere efforts towards rapid economic development. The positive social and economic agenda of both our nations countries is being appreciated around the globe. 
•    The relations between our two countries have matured into a strategic partnership. The year 2015 witnessed exchanges high level visits that have contributed to the enhancement of our cooperation across the full spectrum of areas of our common interest. India is committed to further strengthen our partnership through the five – pronged initiative agreed by our two nations, which includes robust strategic engagement, defence and security cooperation, comprehensive economic partnership, cultural and people-to-people links and cooperation in responding to common challenges. I look forward to working with you to further strengthen our partnership for the mutual benefit of our peoples.

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its ex-post facto approval for a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between India and South Africa for cooperation in the field of Tourism. The MoU was signed on 08.07.2016. 
The main objectives of the MoU are: 
•    To expand bilateral cooperation in the tourism sector; 
•    To exchange information and data related to tourism ; 
•    To encourage cooperation between tourism stakeholders, including hotels and tour operators. 
•    To establish exchange programmes for cooperation in Human Resource Development; 
•    Investing in the tourism and hospitality sector; 
•    To encourage visits of Tour Operators/Media/ Opinion Makers and tourists from both countries for promotion of two way tourism; 
•    To exchange experiences in the areas of promotion, education, marketing, destination development and management; 
•    To participate in travel fairs/exhibitions in each other's country; and 
•    To promote safe, honourable and sustainable tourism.
 

The Union Cabinet chaired by the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi has given its approval for signing of new Air Services Agreement (ASA) between India and Laos People’s Democratic Republic (Lao PDR). 
•    The Agreement is expected to spur greater trade, investment, tourism and cultural exchange between the two countries bringing it in tune with the developments in the civil aviation sector. 
•    It will provide enabling environment for enhanced and seamless connectivity while providing commercial opportunities to the carriers of both the sides ensuring greater safety and security. 
•    Under the agreement, the designated airlines of the two countries shall have fair and equal opportunity to operate the agreed services on specified routes.
•    The routes and frequencies shall be decided subsequently. ASA is the basic legal framework for any air operation between the two countries.
 

India and Bangladesh on 12 July 2016 signed a landmark deal for the construction of Rampal Power Station, a 1320 megawatt coal fired power plant.
The Rampal Power Station is the biggest project under bilateral cooperation.
•    The Bangladesh-India Friendship Power Company Limited (BIFPCL), the joint venture enterprise, signed the deal with Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL).
•    BHEL was chosen under an open international tender for constructing the super thermal plant at Bangladesh's southwestern Rampal near the Sundarbans.
•    India's Exim Bank will provide 1.49 billion US dollars for the project.
•    The project is scheduled to start generating power in 2019.
•    The Rampal Power Station is a proposed 1320 megawatt coal-fired power station at Rampal Upazila of Bagerhat District in Khulna, Bangladesh.
•    It is a joint partnership between India's state owned National Thermal Power Corporation and Bangladesh Power Development Board.
•    The project is also known as Maitree Super Thermal Power Project.
•    The proposed project will be constructed on an area of over 1834 acres of land.
•    It is situated 14 kilometres north of the world's largest mangrove forest Sundarbans, which is a UNESCO world heritage site.
•    The project will be Bangladesh’s largest power plant.

India and Tanzania on 10 July 2016 inked five agreements to enhance the bilateral cooperation between the two nations.
These agreements were signed during Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Tanzania from 9 July to 10 July 2016. 
•    MoU on Cooperation in the field of water resource management and development between the two countries.
•    MoU on Visa waiver agreement for Diplomatic/Official passport holders between the two countries.
•    Agreement on Joint Action Plan (JAP) between National Small Industries Corporation of India (NSIC) and Small Industries Development Organization Tanzania (SIDO).
•    MoU for Establishment of Vocational Training Centre at Zanzibar.
•    LOC of 92 million US dollar for rehabilitation and improvement of water supply system in Zanzibar.
•    During the visit to Tanzania, Modi met Tanzania’s President John Pombe Joseph Magufuli. 
•    During the meet, the two leaders agreed to work closely, bilaterally, regionally and globally to combat the twin threats of terrorism and climate change.
