WHO certifies India Yaws, Maternal & Neonatal Tetanus free
India on 6 September 2016 received certificates from World Health Organization (WHO) recognizing the elimination of Yaws and Maternal and Neonatal Tetanus (MNT) from the country.
• Yaws is a tropical infection of the skin, bones and joints caused by the spirochete bacterium Treponema pallidum pertenue.
• It is spread by direct contact with the fluid from a lesion of an infected person.
• The disease is most common among children, who spread it by playing together.
• The disease infects only humans.
• Neonatal tetanus is a form of generalized tetanus that occurs in newborns.
• Infants who have not acquired passive immunity from the mother having been immunized are at risk.
• It usually occurs through infection of the unhealed umbilical stump, particularly when the stump is cut with a non-sterile instrument.
• The disease mostly occurs in developing countries, particularly those with the least developed health infrastructure. It is rare in developed countries.
विश्व स्वास्थ्य संगठन (डब्ल्यूएचओ) ने 6 सितम्बर को भारत को याज मुक्त तथा मातृ एवं नवजात टिटनेस उन्मूलन (एमएनटीई) प्रमाणपत्र प्रदान किया।
• याज एक चर्म रोग है। इसके कारण शरीर में चकते पड़ जाते हैं। यह स्पिरोचेते बैक्टीरियम ट्रेपोनेमा पल्लिदुम पेर्तेनुए के कारण होता है.
• ट्रेपोनेमा पल्लिदुम पेर्तेनुए की वजह से जोड़ों में भी संक्रमण होता है।
• यह एक संक्रमित व्यक्ति के एक घाव से तरल पदार्थ के साथ सीधे संपर्क से फैल रहा है।
• ये रोग बच्चों बच्चों में बहुत सामान्य है जो खेलतेखेलते इस बिमारी को फैलाते हैं।
• ये रोग केवल मनुष्यों को संक्रमित करता है।
• नवजात टिटनेस एक सामान्य टिटनेस है जो बच्चों में होता है।
• शिशुओं से माँ को भी ये बिमारी होने की संभावना होती है । माँ से प्रतिरोधक क्षमता न मिल पाने से भी बछा इस बीमारी से ग्रसित हो जाता है
• यह आम तौर पर, नाल के संक्रमण के माध्यम से होता है, खासकर जब स्टंप एक गैर बाँझ यंत्र के साथ कट जाता है।
• रोग ज्यादातर विकासशील देशों, विशेष रूप से कम विकसित स्वास्थ्य के बुनियादी ढांचे वाले देशों में होता है । यह विकसित देशों में दुर्लभ है।
