Yahoo hit in World's Biggest Data Breach
Yahoo reported the largest data breach in history - affecting at least 500 million user accounts - months after first detecting signs of an intrusion that the company blamed on "state-sponsored" hackers.
• The Web giant called on customers to change their passwords and institute other protective measures, but the largest fallout could be for Yahoo itself.
• The long-faltering company this summer agreed to sell its core business for $4.8 billion to telecommunications giant Verizon in a deal now clouded by news of the massive breach.
• Verizon said it learned of the incident only "within the last two days."
• Yahoo learned of the incident in July, the same month it announced its deal with Verizon, a person familiar with the matter said, speaking on condition of anonymity to freely discuss the issue.
याहू ने गुरुवार को बड़े सेक्यूरिटी हैक की जानकारी दी है. याहू का दावा है कि 'स्टेट स्पॉन्सर्ड एक्टर' ने 2014 में कंपनी के नेटवर्क से 50 करोड़ यूजर्स के डेटा को एक्सेस किया था.
• कंपनी ने यह भी कहा कि जांच के दौरान इस बात का कोई सबूत नहीं मिला है कि सरकार की शह पर ऐसा करने वाले अभी तक याहू के नेटवर्क में मौजूद हैं.
• याहू का कहना है कि वह इस मामले को लेकर कानून और व्यवस्था बनाए रखने वाली एजेंसियों के साथ काम कर रही है.
• वेरिजॉन ने जुलाई में कहा था कि वह 4.83 अरब अमेरिकी डॉलर में याहू के महत्वपूर्ण इंटरनेट उत्पादों को खरीदने जा रही है.
• गुरुवार को वेरिजॉन ने कहा कि उन्हें डाटा चोरी की जानकारी पिछले दो दिन के दौरान दी गई है. उन्होंने कहा कि मामले की जांच जारी रहने के साथ-साथ वेरिजॉन के हितों को ध्यान में रखते हुए हम भी स्थिति का मूल्यांकन करेंगे. तब तक हम इससे ज्यादा कुछ कहने की स्थिति में नहीं हैं.
