Yahoo to be renamed Altaba after Verizon deal
Yahoo confirmed on Monday that chief executive Marissa Mayer will quit the company's board after its merger with Verizon.
● Mayer is expected to remain with Yahoo's core business, which is being bought by the US telecom titan.
● Yahoo is selling its internet operations as a way to separate that from its more valuable stake in Chinese internet giant Alibaba.
● The share-tending entity, to be renamed Altaba Inc., will act as an investment company with its board reduced to five members, according to a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission.
● Yahoo co-founder David Filo and Mayer will be among those resigning from the board, according to the filing.

● कंपनी ने 9 जनवरी को अपने बयान में यह जानकारी दी है।
● दिग्गज अमेरिकी टेलीकॉम कंपनी वेरिजॉन से सौदा पूरा होने के बाद कंपनी का शेष बचा कारोबार अलटाबा के नाम से जाना जाएगा।
● वेरिजॉन ने पिछले साल जुलाई में याहू के ईमेल, डिजिटल एडवरटाइजिंग और मीडिया कारोबार को 4.83 अरब डॉलर (करीब 325 अरब रुपये) में खरीदने का सौदा किया था।
● ईमेल, डिजिटल एडवरटाइजिंग और मीडिया कारोबार हटने के बाद याहू के पास बची कंपनी मूलरूप से निवेश से जुड़ी कंपनी रहेगी।
● इस कंपनी के पास चीन की दिग्गज कंपनी अलीबाबा के 15 फीसद शेयर और याहू जापान के 35.5 फीसद शेयर हैं।
● इनकी कीमत करीब 41 अरब डॉलर (तकरीबन 2,725 अरब रुपये) है।
● इन कारोबार को संभालने वाली कंपनी का नाम अलटाबा रखा जाएगा। यह नाम अल्टरनेटिव एंड अलीबाबा से लिया गया है। यह नाम इसलिए रखा जा रहा है ताकि अलीबाबा से इसका जुड़ाव स्पष्ट हो सके।
