i think u r new to ssc pattern. this kind of pattern of questions comes in banking sectors. To make paper critical and full calculation based for increasing difficulty level always doesn't mean to be a good paper. try to make paper accordingly and which make some sense to students. Thumbs down

Question:

When a number N is divided by a proper divisor D then it leaves a remainder of 14 and if the thrice of that number i.e., 3N is divided by the same divisor D leaves remainder 8. Again if the four times of the same number 4N is divided by D the remainder will be:

Options:
A) 35
B) 23
C) 5 or 22
D) 29
Solution:

Ans: (c)

Rem [N/D] = 14
=> N = kD + 14
=> 3N = 3kD + 42

We are given Rem [3N / D] = 8
=> Rem [3kD + 42 / D] = 8
=> Rem [42/D] = 8
=> D = 34 or 17 (It has to be a factor of 34 greater than 14)

We need to find out Rem [4N / D]
= Rem [4kD + 56 / D]
= Rem [56 / D]
If D = 17, Remainder is 5
If D = 34, Remainder is 22
