Question:

 A tiger is 50 leaps of its own behind a deer. The tiger takes 5 leaps per minute while deer takes 4. If the tiger and deer cover 8 m and 5 m respectively by their leap respectively. what distance will the tiger have run before it catches the deer?

Options:
A)

 600 m 

B)

     700 m 

C)

     800 m 

D)

     1000 m 

Solution:

Speed of tiger = 5 × 8 = 40 m/min

Speed of deer = 5 × 4 = 20 m/min

Distance between them = 50 × 8 = 400 m

Time taken by tiger to catch deer =  40040-20=20min.   

Distance travelled = 20 × 40 = 800 m

Dear student,
formula of distance is = speed x time
the speed of tiger is 40 m/min and tiger catch deer in 20 min.
so distance = speed x time
= 40 x 20
= 800 m
