Question:

A shopkeeper sells one trouser for Rs.1840 at a gain of 15% and another for Rs.1260 at a loss of 25%. What is his total gain or loss percent?

Options:
A)

5.49% loss

B)

6.23% profit

C)

4.87% loss

D)

3.21% profit

Solution:

Ans: (a)

Total selling price = 1840 + 1260 = 3100

Total cost price = (1840 x 100 /1.15) + (1260 x 100 /0.75)

   cp = 1600 + 1680 = 3280

( cp - sp ) = loss

Loss % = (180/3280) × 100% = 5.49%
