Question:
A sum of money becomes \(\cfrac{7}{6}\) of itself in 3 years at a certain rate of simple interest. The rate of interest per annum is:

Options:
A) 5 \(\cfrac{5}{9}\) %
B) 6 \(\cfrac{5}{9}\) %
C) 18%
D) 25%
Solution:
Ans: (a) Let principal = 6P,

Hence, Amount = 6P ×  \(\cfrac{7}{6}\) = 7P

\(\therefore \) SI = 7P - 6P = P

Time = 3  years

SI = \(\cfrac{P × R × T}{100}\)

\(\Rightarrow\) P =  \(\cfrac{6P × R × 3}{100}\)

\(\Rightarrow\) R = \(\cfrac{100}{18} = \cfrac{50}{9} = 5 \cfrac{5}{9} \%\)
