Correct the answer

Question:
A sum of money lent out at simple interest amounts to Rs.720 after 2 years and to Rs.1,020 after a further period of 5 years. The sum is?
Options:
A) Rs.710
B) Rs.500
C) Rs.700
D) Rs.600
Solution:

Interest in 5 years

= 1020 – 720

= 300

∴ Interest in 1 years = \(\cfrac{300}{5}\) = 60

∴ Interest in 2 years = 120

∴ P = 720 – 120

= 600
