I think the answer to this question is not correct. Low specific heat is a desirable property of a refrigerant, but in the question, it is asked for the non-desirable properties of a refrigerant.

Question:

Which one of the following is not a desirable property of a good refrigerant ?

Options:
A)

low specific heat

B)

high specific volume of vapour

C)

large latent heat at evaporator pressure

D)

high critical temperature

Solution:

Ans: (a)

Refrigerant should have low specific heat in order to ensure that refrigerant temperature rises quickly in the evaporator and added heat is used for converting refrigerant into vapour phase so that only vapor enters into the compressor and not liquid
