Question:

Two trains 200 metres and 150 metres long runs at the speed of 54 km/h and 90 km/hr respectively, in opposite direction on parallel tracks. The time taken to cross each other is -

Options:
A)

7.2 sec

B)

8.7 sec

C)

7 sec

D)

6 sec

Solution:

Ans: (a)

 

\(\therefore\) Time=\(\cfrac{Total Distance}{Speed}\)    =\(\cfrac{200+150}{90+54}\)  \(\times\)\(\cfrac{18}{5}\)

=\(\cfrac{350}{144}\)\(\times\)\(\cfrac{18}{5}\)
=\(\cfrac{43.75}{5}\)=8.7 second
