In the year 2006, the average monthly salary of Shyam in the even months was Rs.300 more than that in the odd months. His average monthly salary in the year was Rs.6000. Find his average monthly salary (in Rs.) in the odd months in the year.

A) 5850 
B) 5950
C) 5750 
D) 5650
Solution:

Ans (a) Let Shyam’s average moothly salary in the odd months be Rs.x.

His average monthly salary in the even months = Rs.(x + 300)

His total salary in 2006 = Rs.[6(x) + 6(x + 300)]

His average monthly salary in 2006 = Rs. \(\cfrac{[6(x) + 6 (x + 300)]}{12}\)

= Rs. \(\cfrac{(x + x + 300)}{2}\)   = Rs. (x + 150) = 6000

x =Rs 5850
