Solution:

 Required surface area

  

=  2×2πr2+2πrh   

= 4 ×  227   × 2.5 × 2.5 + 2 ×  227   × 2.5 × 9

= 2 ×  227    × 2.5(5 + 9)

= 220 mm2.
