A water reservoir has two inlets and one outlet. Through the inlet it can be filled in 3 hours and 3 hours 45 minutes respectively. It can be emptied completely in 1 hours by the outlet. If the two inlets are opened at 01:00 pm and 02:00 pm respectively and the outlet at 03:00 pm then it will be emptied at.

Ist pipe fills till 3 pm = 5 × 2 = 10 units

IInd pipe fills till 3 pm = 4 × 1 = 4 units

Total filled 10 + 4 = 14 units

Net Pipe (III) efficiency = 15 – 9 = 6 units/hours

Tank will be empty in =  146    = 2 hour 20 minute

3 hour + 2 hour 20 min = 5:20 pm
