A/B = 12/11
B/C = 16/14
A:B:C = 96:88:77
96-77=19

Question:

A beats B by 100 m in a race of 1200 m and B beats C by 200 m in race of 1600 m. Approximately by how many metres can A beat C in a race of 9600 m?

Options:
A) 1600 m
B) 1800 m
C) 1900 m
D) 2400 m
Solution:
Ans: (c)

When A cover 1200 mtr. then B will  cover 1100

Hence A will cover 1 mtr. then B will cover =\(\cfrac{1100}{1200}\) mtr.

Similarly,

When B will cover 1 mtr. then C will cover = \(\cfrac{1400}{1600}\)

When B will cover \(\cfrac{1100}{1200}\) then C will cover = \(\cfrac{1400}{1600} \times \cfrac{1100}{1200}\)

Hence when  A will cover 1 mtr. then C will cover = \(\cfrac{1400}{1600} \times \cfrac{1100}{1200}\)

Hence A will cover 9600 mtr. then C will cover  \(\cfrac{1400}{1600} \times \cfrac{1100}{1200} \times 9600\) = 7700 mtr.

Hence A beat C by = 9600 - 7700 = 1900 mtr.
