Process repeated 3 times means the process for the first time and it's three repetition. If so the answer will be fourty plus something.

Question:
From a container, full of pure milk, 20% is replaced by water and this process is repeated two more times. At the end of the third operation, the quantity of pure milk reduces.
Options:
A) 40.0%
B) 50.0%
C) 51.2%
D) 58.8%
Solution:

Let the initial quantity of pure milk in the vessel be 100 liters. Remaining milk after n operations =

Initial quantity of milk\(\times \left ( 1-\cfrac {y}{x} \right )^n\)

Here, n = 3

\(\therefore\) quantity of milk remained

= 100 \(\times \left ( 1-\cfrac {20}{100} \right )^3=100\left ( \cfrac {4}{5} \right )^3\)

=100 \(\times \cfrac{4}{5}\times \cfrac{4}{5}\times \cfrac{4}{5}=51.2\)

or 51.2%
