Question:

In the solution of sugar and water the ratio of sugar and water by weight is 1 : 5 .This solution is heated and in the process it losses 40% weight what is the ratio of weight of sugar and water in the final mixture?

Options:
A) 5 : 13
B) 2 : 1
C) 13 : 5
D) 1 : 2
Solution:

Ans: (a) Weight of solution = (1 + 5)

= 6 units.

Weight of sugar = 1 units.

Weight of mixture after heating = 6 ×.6=3.6 units.

Weight of water after heating = 3.6 – 1 = 2.6 units.

Required Ratio = 1 : 2.6

= 10 : 26

= 5 : 13.
