Question:

Victoria purchased a number of articles, all at a discount of 21% of the list price. However he is required to pay a duty of 15% on the cost price. If he realizes a profit of 18% on his outlay. What must be charge for an article priced Rs. 600 as the list price?

Options:
A) Rs. 656.95
B) Rs. 646.31
C) Rs. 643.21
D) Rs. 649.51
Solution:
List price = Rs.600

C.P. (before duty) = 600 600 × \(\cfrac{21}{100}\)= Rs.474

C.P. (after duty) = Rs.474 × 1.15

S.P. = Rs.545.1 × 1.18 = Rs.643.21
