first train 50km ahead from second train and this distance cover by 2nd train 2.5hour

Question:
A train X starts from a place at a speed of 50km/hr. After one hour another trainY starts from the same place at the speed 70 km/hr. After how much time will Y cross X,after starting of X?
Options:
A) 3 hrs.
B) \(2\cfrac{3}{4}\) hrs.
C) \(3\cfrac{1}{2}\) hrs.
D) \(2\cfrac{1}{4}\) hrs.
Solution:
Ans: (c) 


Let they cross after x hours

distance covered by Y in (x-1) hours

distance covered by X in x hours

70 (x-1) = 50x \(\Rightarrow x=3\cfrac{1}{2}\)
