A) 38

Solution:
(x+2)2-x2 = 84


\(\Rightarrow\)\(x^2+4x+4-x^2=84 \)

\(\Rightarrow\)\(4x=80 \)

\(\Rightarrow\)\(x=20\)

now, \(x+2 = 22\)


Hence, sum of two numbers is 22+20=42
