Question:

Raja and Rani started a business by investing Rs.28000 and Rs. 36000. After 4 months Rani withdraw Rs. 3000 and Raja invested Rs.8000 more. After 3 more months, Neha joined the business with an investment of Rs. 39000. The profit share of Raja exceeds Neha by Rs.2460. What is the total profit earned at the end of a year?

Options:
A)

Rs.15526

B)

Rs.11072

C)

Rs.12726

D)

Rs. 12036

Solution:

Ans: (d)     Let the profit = Rs. k

Ratio of profit of Raja : Rani : Neha

= (28000 × 4 + 36000 × 8) : (36000 × 4 + 33000 × 8) : (39000 × 5)

= 400 : 408 : 195

Given that, (400 – 195)/(400 + 408 + 195) × k = 2460

205k/1003 = 2460

k = 12036
