As the name suggests, NATA is the national-level entrance test to measure the aptitude for admission into architectural courses. Students are assessed for visual perception, cognitive skills, aesthetic sensitivity tests, critical thinking ability, and logical reasoning. The Council of Architecture has been responsible for conducting the National Aptitude Test in Architecture (NATA) since 2006.
This aptitude test comprises Multiple-Choice type (MCQ), Preferential Choice type (PCQ), Numerical Answer type (NAQ), Multiple Select types (MSQ), and Match the following type (MFQ). Each question carries one mark, two marks, or three marks, and there are 180 minutes to answer 125 questions.
The Diagrammatic Reasoning questions in NATA test the candidate’s ability to logical reasoning using diagrams and scenarios. The questions based on Numerical Reasoning test mathematical ability. The questions relating to Verbal Reasoning assess the verbal logic of the candidate. Inductive Reasoning questions in NATA examine the student's ability to see patterns and analyze given data. The problem-solving ability is judged through questions on Situational Judgment.
The Logical Reasoning section tests the ability to recognize patterns, sequences, or relationships between shapes and imagery. Abstract Reasoning measure general knowledge and the ability to utilize knowledge in new situations.
