On 5 May 2016 Suresh Prabhu launched a high speed Wi-Fi hotspot at the three Railway Stations. 
These stations are Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh, Kachiguda in Telangana and Raipur in Chhattisgarh.
•    RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. has been mandated by Ministry of Railways to provide Wi-Fi 
•    RailTel engaged with Google as the technology partner for setting up high speed Wi-Fi network.
•    RailTel will upgrade its backbone infrastructure to backhaul high speed connectivity of approximately 1Gbps per station.
•    Wi-Fi services to passengers will be provided under Railwire the retail Broadband distribution model of RailTel.
•    Designed to offer users the best Internet experience, Railwire Wi-Fi will be available to any user who has a working mobile connection on a smart phone.
•    Users will be able to easily stream a high definition video and surf the web.
•    RailTel Corporation of India Ltd. is a Miniratna enterprise of Government of India.
•    It is one of the largest neutral telecom services providers in the country owning a Pan-India optic fiber network.
•    It covers all important towns and cities of the country and several rural areas covering 70% of India’s population.

The Centre’s ambitious National LED programme - Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) - will be implemented across the country by 2019.
•    Total of 9 crore LED bulbs were sold in the country, which means people will get the benefit of Rs 5,500 crore in their electricity bills. 
•    Almost 77 crore incandescent bulbs will be replaced till 2019 in the country which will ensure an annual benefit of Rs 40,000 crore to the people in their electricity bills and it will reduce dependability on coal.
•    The cost of a 9-W LED bulb under the scheme is Rs 85 only.
•    Madhya Pradesh has set a target of switching over to this mode in the next one-and-a-half year.
•    The world’s largest solar power plant is coming up in Madhya Pradesh’s Rewa district.
•    Govt. is urging people to replace old lamps with LED bulbs to save power and make it cheaper.
•    State energy minister Rajendra Shukla ingfrmed that after selling the targetted 3 crore LED bulbs, Madhya Pradesh would order for 7 crore more bulbs.

On 28 April 2016 CM Naveen Patnaik inaugurated 100 piped water supply projects for rural areas.
The project was inaugurated on the occasion of Utkal Gaurab Madhusudan Das’ anniversary.  
He was the first graduate and advocate of Odisha.
In April 2016, the state government also announced that it will sink a tubewell in each of the 27711 areas spending around 195 crore rupees. 
• The 100 projects will benefit 172000 people in 107 villages across the state.
• In 2016, Rourkela Steel Plant (RSP) Township is experiencing a massive drinking water crisis. 
• Several tribal settlements around Byree area of Jajpur district are being provided with water tankers by private donors.
• In 2015, the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) found that drinking water in adequate quantity was not supplied to people in 95 out of 106 urban areas of the state.

In April 2016 National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD) collaborated with German government for a special programme on 'Soil Protection and Rehabilitation for Food Security'.
•    This is part of the German government's special initiative 'One World, No Hunger' initiative. 
•    India is the only country in Asia to be part of this initiative.
•    NABARD is anchoring two major programmes — soil conservation and rehabilitation of degraded land programme in Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. 
•    It is also conducting innovation of watershed development and climate change adaptation programmes in Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Maharashtra, Gujarat and Rajasthan.
•    Germany’s 'One World, No Hunger' focuses on food and nutrition security, promotion of innovation, protection and sustainable use of natural resources so as to create stable livelihood in rural areas and promotion of responsible land use and access to land.
•    This initiate has been happily welcomed by many countries across the globe.

On 30 April 2016 Piyush Goyal launched National LED programme - Unnat Jyoti by Affordable LEDs for All (UJALA) in Madhya Pradesh.
The scheme is being implemented by Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL), a joint venture of PSUs under the Union Ministry of Power.
• Under this Programme, 3 crore LED Bulbs will be distributed in the next 6 months in the State. 
• UJALA will not only help reduce consumers their electricity bills but also contribute to the energy security of India. 
• The usage of LED bulbs will not only result in reducing electricity bills but also help in environment protection.
• The distribution of LED bulbs will happen through DISCOM offices.
• Consumers can buy these affordable LEDs by presenting any identity card. These bulbs come with a three year free replacement warranty .
• The UJALA scheme played a significant role in creating awareness about energy efficient lighting. 
• The number of LED bulbs distributed in 2015-16 has crossed 15 crore
• For 2016, the Union Government is set to distribute an additional 20 crore LED bulbs.
• Sustained efforts under UJALA, coupled with industry support, will help the government achieve its objective of replacing 77 crore inefficient bulbs by March 2019.
• UJALA is the largest non-subsidised LED programme in the world.
